The original Len-Co Lumber was founded in 1958, in Buffalo, New York. James P. Coppola, Sr. and Frank Leonard combined their last names to form “Len-Co”. James had knowledge of building products from his experience at Cuyahoga Wrecking, Frank had a truck for deliveries, and the rest, as they say, was history.
James Was Known for his charisma and creativity
By the mid-1960’s, James Coppola had assumed full control of the company, and Len-Co Lumber had become well known in Western New York for offering quality building products, particularly lumber, doors, and plywood, at extremely competitive prices. Coppola grew the company, and the product line, over the next four decades with the help of his wife and nine children, all of whom worked at the company at one time or another.
His charismatic personality and shrewd entrepreneurial spirit helped him to expand the company’s footprint in South Buffalo despite recessions, out of town competition, and even a major fire in the lumber yard. James was an accomplished artist in his spare time, and his popular Len-Co advertisements in the Buffalo News often included some of his artistic creations (people still ask about the news ads to this day!).

With the purchase of the company in 2004, the New Lumber Corp. was born.
Stephen M. Coppola purchased the company that you know today. Guiding New Lumber Corp. through the financial crisis of 2007, Stephen was then able to grow the company with a second LENCO location in Williamsville, NY. His knack for creating operational efficiencies helped him to open a third location in Kenmore, NY just a few years later.
Today, Stephen runs the three-store company with his sons Stephen P. and Kevin Coppola, resulting in three generations of excellence in the building materials industry! Now known across Western New York and online as LENCO Supplies, LENCO serves professional builders, remodelers, do-it-yourselfers, government agencies, municipalities, and commercial businesses. The standard that originated in 1958 continues to this day – “Service that’s the best, and quality for less!”
